1. Abstract

This guide is intended to help customers setup the hardware development environment, install required software, download, and run an example application on DA14531 or DA14585/586 Pro Development Kit platform.

Warning

The current revision of this guide (V2.2) covers only the DA14531, DA14585 and DA14586 devices. For the DA148580, DA14581 and DA14583 devices, please refer to revision 1.2

2. Prerequisites

To start evaluation or project development on Dialog Semiconductor DA14531 or DA14585/6 product sets – the following tools are recommended.

  • Hardware tools:
    • Computational workstation (e.g. PC or Laptop)
      • 32-bit or 64-bit processor with 1 GHz processing speed

      • 1 GB RAM

      • 2 GB free disk space

    • DA14531 Pro Development kit or DA14585/586 Pro Development kit as a Mother-board

    • DA14531 or DA14585/6 Daughter-board

    • USB cable to power supply Pro Development kit and perform on-board debugging

  • Software tools:
    • Windows™ Operating System (e.g Windows 10)
      • Terminal software such as RealTerm, Putty or Tera Term. This document uses Tera Term for its examples.

      • SmartSnippets™ Studio 2.0.8 or later which can be installed on Windows, see Section Section 6.

      • Software Development Kit (SDK) SDK6.0.11.933-C for DA14531 or DA14585/6 project development

Note

When installing SmartSnippets™, all the sub-component drivers and software tools needed for DA14531 or DA14585/6 development will be installed.
