James McGee (born c1810 in Co.Down, died July 17 1885 in Lightburn, Shettleston)
married
Sarah Dunigan (born c1810 in Girvan, Ayrshire, died March 26 1888 in Lightburn, Shettleston)
in St Andrew's, Glasgow on Wednesday, October 27 1830.
James and Sarah had the following children (that I know of)
| Ann | born in Shettleston in 1833, married Patrick Lynch in 1855
and lived in Lightburn then Cambuslang. No (known) photos. |
| Henry | born in Shettleston in 1837, married Margaret Burns in 1860 and stayed
in Shettleston. No (known) photos. |
| Margaret | born in Shettleston about 1839, married Daniel Colvin in 1860 and
established the Colvin clan in Shettleston. |
| John | born in Shettleston in 1843, last heard of about 1885 in Shettleston
(making ivory bowling green bowls). |
| Thomas | born in Shettleston in 1846, married Margaret Hyslop in Manchester in
1875 and is responsible for the Manchester McGees. |

Wm Hall, 21 Argyle Street

who first appears in the
Glasgow Post Office Directory
for 1880 - 1881.
On the back we have
"Q's Great-Grandmother - late 19thC"
and on the page beside it, "(Colvins?)" .Only one of Queenie's great grandmothers lived near Glasgow,
Sarah (Dunigan) McGee.
Assuming it is the Colvins, who are the children? If we accept a 2 year difference in ages, if the older is a boy, then it's Thomas and Susan in 1882. (I know small boys wore skirts in those days but a 2½-year-old in a dress like that?) If the older is a girl, then it's Susan and Bessie in 1884.Plus Margaret (McGee) and Dan Colvin (left)
and my guess would be John McGee.

for 1881 - 1882.
The identification is
"Jim's Grandmother".The most likely "Jim" is James Colvin
whose paternal grandmother died in the 1840s.
Which seems to leave Sarah with a clear field.
My guess would be that this was taken
not long before her death in 1888,
certainly after James's death in 1885.(She was also a grandmother of James Lynch
and a couple of James McGees.)
Thomas McGee (born January 3, 1846 in Lightburn, Shettleston, Lanarkshire, died June 2 1916 in
Ardwick, Manchester)
married
Margaret Hyslop (born March 12, 1858 in Chorlton, Manchester, died December 9 1891 in
Manchester)
in the Catholic Parish Church, Manchester on October 23 1875
Thomas and Margaret had the following children (that I know of)
| James | born in Manchester in 1879, married Marie Shanks in 1903
and had a large family. |
| John | born in Camlachie, Glasgow in 1882, never married, stayed in
Manchester (Uncle Jack). |
| Henry | born in Camlachie, Glasgow in 1884, never married, killed in the Great
War. |
| Sarah | born in Manchester in 1886, is rumoured to have married and vanished
into the Great Wen. |
