Mary Colvin was born Monday, December 3, 1866 in Lightburn, Shettleston to Margaret McGee (c1839 - 1905) and Daniel Colvin, Coal Miner (at that date) (c1837 - 1917). [See Section CL-6-1 for family background.]

1897 On Wednesday, September 29, Patrick and Mary were married by Fr Patrick Gaule, RCC at St. Paul's RC Church, Shettleston after Publication according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.60 at Shettleston on October 1.
Patrick was a Bachelor, gave his age as 32, occupation Brick Work Labourer and usual residence as Milncroft, Shettleston. His parents are recorded as Michael Taggart, Brick Work Labourer and Eliza Taggart m.s. Boyle.
Mary was a Spinster, gave her age as 26 [she was 30!], occupation Steam Loom Weaver and usual address Lightburn, Shettleston. Her parents are recorded as Daniel Colvin, Road Surfaceman and Margaret Colvin m.s. McGhee.
The witnesses were John Taggart and Cecilia Colvin.
1901 March 31 The family were living in Lightburn Cottages (near the Colvins) in a house with one windowed room.

1905 Michael and Daniel Taggart (twins) were born at 1h0m a.m. and 3h0m a.m. respectively on August 18 at Lightburn, Shettleston to Patrick Taggart, Coal Merchant and Mary Taggart m.s. Colvin who married on September 29, 1897 at Shettleston. Their births were registered Nos.682 and 683 at Shettleston on September 8 by Patrick Taggart, Father.
