Largs - Brodick - Largs — Thursday, 26 June 2014

Waverley started from Largs so I took McGill's bus down there. Millport Pier is allegedly unsafe this year so calls are at the Marine Research Station near the old Keppel Pier. (The cable layer was in the area in connection with the laying of an undersea electricity cable from near Hunterston down to Cumbria.)

Owing to a temporary separation from my wallet, I missed the boat at Greenock and took the bus on to Largs, where I bumped into Eddie and spent a pleasant hour with him in the Old Anchor Inn (Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted).

Waverley went to Lochranza - I didn't — Sunday, 24 August 2014

Last trip of the season, an excellent sail to Lochranza in fine weather. However, the boat was fully booked from Largs and I, having neglected to book, was amongst the thirty or so prospective passengers turned away at Glasgow. So I walked briskly down to the Riverside Museum and took these photos as Waverley passed, and then went for a walk up the Kelvin Walkway to Maryhill and down the canal towpath to Port Dundas.
