CHAIR OF REGION
This year marks the 11th year of the World Procurement Awards
– a programme that has truly put procurement on the global map.
We take understandable pride in the rigour and independence of
not just our entry process, but the judging process.
Awards stand or fall on the integrity of their judging
and the application of its criteria, so each year our team
painstakingly reviews the process and speaks to our
community to ensure our focus still reflects the over-arching
aims and ambitions of the procurement community. Taking
that into account, we continuously revise a judging process
based on three clear goals:
l
To appoint a globally recognised panel of judges.
l
To create representative and coherent criteria.
l
To guarantee an independent, transparent and
rigorous process.
As a result, we implemented a three-stage methodology
consisting of: scoring; peer reviewing; and face-to-face
judging days.
The process began in November 2016 when the panel
of 27 global judges reviewed and scored more than 300
entries in accordance with each category criteria. This
was then followed by the peer-review- process to validate
the judges’ remarks.
In January 2017, the judges met with their regional groups
to discuss and debate the entries and scoring with each Chair
of Region. The recommendations and feedback were then
presented to the Global Chair of Judges for a final decision.
