Hughes Tutoring

Who I Am

I'm Harry and I am a second-year medical student at UCL. I am the founder of Hughes Tutoring and am an experienced medicine admissions and A level tutor with over 250 hours of teaching experience.

After successfully attaining offers from UCL and Imperial College London, I have a recent and in-depth understanding of the medical application process, including the personal statement, admission tests and interviews. I had interviews at Cambridge University, UCL and Imperial College London which included both panel style interviews (Cambridge, UCL) and MMI (Imperial).

In the UCAT admissions test I scored in the 8th decile overall, achieved Band 1 in situational judgement and was in the top 10% for Quantitative Reasoning. I took Physics (WJEC), Biology (Edexcel) and Chemistry (Edexcel) at A-level, achieving A*A*A respectively, and at GCSE I achieved nine grade 9’s and three grade 8’s.

I have also completed multiple teaching courses run by the British Council, which included training to strengthen my core skills in teaching and assessing, as well as courses on how to better incorporate inclusive teaching practices. These, combined with my wealth of teaching experience, enable me to provide tailored and effective tutoring. My goal is to help students achieve their academic potential and succeed in their medical school applications by sharing my knowledge and insights from my own journey.
