A sail from Glasgow to Brodick, where Waverley deposited her passengers then had to vacate the pier to allow the Isle of Arran (1983, Ferguson Ailsa, Port Glasgow) to berth for the scheduled ferry crossing from/to Ardrossan. The first few shots were taken from the car ramp. (Someone had forgotten to close the gates after the previous ferry call.)

Waverley returns to the pier | Brodick Pier from the departing Waverley |
This was a one-way trip from Ayr to Stranraer with a diversion round Ailsa Craig, probably to make a few pounds out of Waverley's light movement south to the Bristol Channel. I bought a day return from Edinburgh to Stranraer (£15.40) to cover my travel connections.
There is a slight possibility that the first two were taken with a long lens on the return from Brodick above, as I had left them undated in the database for some reason, but the more I look at them (particularly the sea state), the more I think they are correctly dated here.

My second Waverley trip to Oban, this time accompanied by Dave. On Thursday, Waverley ran a Campbeltown - Brodick - Ayr service to coincide with the Ayr Show. Some intrepid travellers (including Dave & I) joined her at Ayr for the return trip and spent the night in Campbeltown before she started for the West Coast on Friday morning. She called at Crinan, rather than Port Ellen as she did last year, then on to Oban & Fort William, where Dave & I stayed at the Youth Hostel.

Tuesday, May 7 — Craignure
Waverley did a schools cruise, I think to Loch Sunart. Dave & I went across to Craignure on CalMac's Claymore from Oban and spent some time ashore.
