Peter Farmer was born about 1865 to Catherine Smith and Patrick Farmer.

1881 April 3 This appears to be Peter's family at 64 Bank Street, Bonhill in the Vale of Leven, in a house with two windowed rooms..

1888 On Thursday, April 5, Peter Farmer married Margaret Lynch at The Chapel, Alexandria after Publication according to the forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.493 at Bonhill on April 12.

Peter was a Bachelor, gave his age as 20 (he was nearer 23), occupation Carter and usual residence as 281 Main Street, Renton. His parents are recorded as Patrick Farmer, General Labourer and Catherine Farmer m.s. Smith.

Margaret was a Spinster, age 21, occupation Farm Servant and usual residence 27 Thimble Street, Renton. Her parents are recorded as Patrick Lynch, Coal Miner and Ann Lynch m.s. McGhie.

The celebrant was Emile De Backer, R.C. Clergyman and the witnesses were Henry Lynch [probably Margaret's brother] and Bridget Farmer [probably Peter's sister].


1889 Catherine Smith Farmer was born at 8h0m p.m. on Saturday, January 5 at Macfarlanes Building, Thimble Street, Renton to Peter Farmer, Carter and Margaret Farmer m.s. Lynch who married on April 5, 1888 at Bonhill, Dumbartonshire. Her birth was registered No.4 at Renton on January 8 by Peter Farmer, Father.


1890 Annie Farmer was born at 5h30m p.m. on Friday, July 25 at 20 Cross Row, Newton, Cambuslang to Peter Farmer, Pitheadman and Margaret Farmer m.s. Lynch who married on April 5, 1888 at Bonhill, Dumbartonshire. Her birth was registered No.339 at Cambuslang on August 1 by Peter Farmer, Father.


1891 April 6 Although Lynch references before and after this date give an address of 5 Old Rows, Newton, the Lynches do not appear at that address in the census (nor can I find them in the index for Lanarkshire (or Dunbartonshire)). Instead, in a house with two windowed rooms, we find —
