William (Billy) Dunne was born in early February, 1846 to Margaret Tobin and Edmund Dunne at Carigeen in the Parish of Newinn, Co. Tipperary. [See Section DN-5-1 for family background.]
He was a Master Mason, built a house for the mother of the then Archbishop (Shine) of Liverpool not to mention the convent and school in Newinn. He remained in Carrigeen when the rest of the family went to Australia. He was still alive in March 1930 and now rests in Mortlestown.
Ellen Lyons was born about the beginning of June, 1852 to Mary Foggarty and John Lyons of Boytonrath and was baptised on Friday, June 4 in Newinn. Her godparents were ???? and Mary Hackett.
1874 or earlier Billy married Ellen Lyons, presumably in Newinn.
1875 Edmund (Ned) was born. He was baptised in Newinn on Wednesday, April 7, his godparents being Edward Dunne and Margaret Heffernan. He lived at Carrigeen all his life, was a carpenter at Rockwell College and never married. He died in 1956.
1877 Margaret (Peg) Mary was born at Carrigeen. Her birthday was kept on June 20 which is a bit awkward because, according to church records, she was baptised in Newinn on Tuesday, May 29 with godparents Timothy Hally and Ellen Lonergan. Be that as it may, in the fullness of time she went to teacher training college in Liverpool and taught in Haddington, East Lothian for a short time before moving to the Shotts, Lanarkshire.
1879 Catherine (Kate) was born. She was baptised in Newinn on Sunday, September 7, her godparents being Miles Heffernan and Margaret Dunne. She married Frank Corbett (son of William and Kate Corbett, Clonmell) and moved to Clonmell but he died on March 3, 1930 and she returned to Carrigeen.
1882 John (Jack) Dunne was born. He was baptised in Newinn on Sunday, May 14, his godparents being John Kent and Ellen Heffernan. Sadly, he died aged about 12.
1885 Patrick was born. He was baptised in Newinn on Monday, February 23, his godparents being James Hally and Mary Meehan. Unfortunately, he lived barely a year and is buried in Mortlestown.
1886 Mary Brigid (Bab) was born. She was baptised in Newinn on Tuesday, May 25, her godparents being John Noonan and Catherine Hally. She died sometime after July 1914 and is buried in Mortlestown.
1889 Helena (Lena) was born on Tuesday, October 22. She was baptised in Newinn on Sunday, October 27, her godparents being Michael Hally and Kate Brien. She did her teacher training at the Avenue College in Southampton (1909 - 1910) and taught briefly in Ashton-under-Lyne before moving to Broxburn where she remained until she retired, living at Ross Terrace, Uphall. She lodged with the Dowds when she first went to Broxburn and formed an attachment with Pat Dowd but never married him as it would have meant giving up teaching.
1894 Jack died at Carrigeen, aged 12.
1912 On Saturday, June 29, Peg married Dick Reynolds in St Patrick's, Shotts. [See Section RS-7-1 for further information.]
1956 Ned died in hospital in Cashel on Friday, September 21 and was buried at Mortlestown.
1965 Kate died on Sunday, July 11 in Carrigeen and was buried in the family lair at Mortlestown. She was the last occupant of the family home and after her death, the house collapsed and was removed when the road was straightened in the early 1970s.
1979 Lena died on Tuesday, January 23 in Glasgow and was buried with Peg and Dick Reynolds in St. Peter's Cemetery, Dalbeth.
